Rooting Before Rising

There are seasons in life when God doesn’t ask you to run. He doesn’t ask you to promote, to push, or to make something happen.
He simply asks you to build.

And for me, this season began in the most ordinary place: sitting in Mass, listening to Scripture, and realizing I didn’t understand what any of it meant for my life.

The readings were beautiful, but distant. The homily was good, but it didn’t bridge the gap.
And I remember thinking: “What the heck do these Scriptures mean for me?”

That question — that spark of curiosity — was the nudge that started everything.

It Started With a Question… and a Yes
I’ve always been curious. I love stories. I love backstories. I love understanding the world behind the words.

If Star Wars has a backstory… If The Lord of the Rings has a history… If every great story has a world behind it… then surely the Gospels do too.

And that’s when God whispered: “Go find it. Go learn it. Go understand the world behind My Word.”

I didn’t know it then, but that whisper was the beginning of this entire ministry. I said yes — a small yes, a curious yes — and everything changed.

Every Yes Led to Another Door

I didn’t know how to podcast. I didn’t know how to record. I didn’t know how to edit. I didn’t know how to build a website. I didn’t know how to create a ministry.

But every time I said yes, God handed me the next tool.

I started the podcast. Then a radio program noticed me. Then they asked for 2‑minute Gospel Snacks. Then people started asking if I did live speaking events. Then I needed a website. Then I needed a place to share reflections. Then more doors opened.

I didn’t plan any of it. I didn’t chase any of it. I didn’t promote any of it. I just kept saying yes.

And Here’s the Part That Still Amazes Me

I work a full‑time job in leadership. I’m a husband and father. I’m involved in ministry at my parish. I’m part of the Spartan 300 program. My schedule is full — overflowing, even.

But I have never felt tired. I have never felt overwhelmed. I have never felt like I didn’t have enough time.

God has given me: the energy, the clarity, the support, the tools, the people, and the opportunities …exactly when I needed them. Not before. Not after. Right on time.

I don’t know how to explain it except this: When you say yes to God, He gives you everything you need to do what He asks.

Not what you ask. Not what you plan. What He asks.

Like Noah, I’m Building Before the Rain

Noah didn’t wait for the storm clouds. He didn’t wait for confirmation. He didn’t wait for applause. He just built.

And that’s what this season feels like for me. I’m building the ark — the website, the blog, the podcast, the speaking ministry —
before I know what the rain will look like.

I’m not building because I understand the plan. I’m building because I trust the One who gave it.

Like Ezekiel, I’m Speaking Before I See the Bones Move

Ezekiel didn’t raise the bones. He didn’t animate the army. He didn’t breathe the breath. He just spoke the words God gave him.

And God did the rest.
That’s the posture I’m learning: Obedience without outcome. Faith without proof. Trust without control.

Rooting Seasons Are Holy

You might be in one too.
A season where God is asking you to build quietly, to trust deeply, to obey without clarity, to take the next step without seeing the whole path.

You are not behind. You are being built.
God roots before He raises. He forms before He sends. He prepares before He reveals.

Your Yes Is More Powerful Than Your Plan

I don’t know where this ministry is going. I don’t know what God will do with it. But I know this: Every time I say yes, He makes a way. Every time I trust Him, He provides. Every time I step forward, He meets me there.
And He will do the same for you.

You don’t have to see the whole path. You don’t have to understand the timing. You don’t have to know how God will use your obedience. You just have to say yes.

Because God will take you higher than you ever thought you could fly.

I’d love to hear your thoughts — feel free to share below.
