“Uncovering the world behind the Word.”
A Catholic podcast and blog exploring the history, culture, and theology of the Gospels.
I’m Chris Choma, I’m not a scholar—just someone who loves the Gospels and has spent years learning from good books, Catholic teaching, and the world of the first century. Everything I share in the podcast and blog comes from that slow, steady curiosity: studying Scripture, the Church’s tradition, and the world Jesus walked in. My hope is that what I’ve learned, you can learn too—and that these conversations help you meet Christ more deeply in the Gospels.

There’s a moment in Ezekiel 37 that has been following me around for years — the prophet standing in a valley full of dry bones, staring at what looks like the world’s worst ministry assignment, and God saying, “Go ahead. Speak life.”

Why I Do This
The Gospels have changed my life, not because I’ve mastered them, but because I keep returning to them with questions, curiosity, and a desire to understand the world Jesus lived in. Over the years, I’ve discovered that the more I learn — about history, culture, the Church, and Scripture — the more the Gospels open up in surprising and beautiful ways. I share this work because I want others to experience that same sense of discovery. If something here helps you see Jesus a little more clearly, or understand the Scriptures a little more deeply, then this whole project is worth it.
